My photography is special to me for many reasons but mainly beacause it was my first real creative outlet and what set me on the road that lead to where I am today. It was my first real hobby, and one that I never truly let go. I took it seriously – I won small awards from a few organizaitions and photographs that I took are still hanging in my high school, but I never really found my style. After high school I sold my DSLR so that I could get a car, and stopped taking pictures, which I always regret doing. In 2011, I lost all digital files of my photography when I fried my computer (remember to use surge protectors) and all I had left are what I printed out and kept in my physical portfolio for all these years. Recently I was able to scan and reclaim a small amount of my old work and display it here.
I also recently got a DSLR and began shooting again. Some of the photos here are new and the aesthetic is notably different, I think – but the majority of these photos were all taken when I was between the ages of 16 and 19. I don't have a particular style in my photographs, but am fond of high-contrast, complex patterns, and interesting balance of scale. It's a work in progress.
